The Cabinet of Canada (formally the Canadian Ministry) are the ministers of the Crown, responsible for setting and implementing the policies of the federal government. The Cabinet is led by the prime minister, who chooses the other ministers. Formally, the actions of the Canadian government are described as the King of Canada acting on the advice of the King’s Privy Council for Canada, a body that includes the Cabinet as well as other senior advisors (e.g. former parliamentarians). In practice, however, the Cabinet directs these decisions; and the Cabinet is responsible to the democratically-elected House of Commons, which can withdraw its support from the Ministry if that Ministry loses the confidence of the House. This is the essence of what in Westminster political systems is termed responsible government.
Unlike in the United States, in Canada the prime minister has wide discretion to choose not just the members of their cabinet but what cabinet ministers will exist. New positions may be created, while other positions may be eliminated or have their responsibilities merged together. In addition, members of the Cabinet of Canada are not subject to any sort of confirmation vote. In practice, in the 21st century cabinet ministers are almost always drawn from members of the House of Commons, but members of the Senate have often served in cabinet positions in the past (indeed, it is not strictly necessary for a cabinet minister to be a parliamentarian at all).

- Department of Canadian Heritage (1993 – present). The department has been headed by the Minister of Canadian Identity and Culture since 2025. - Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada (1880 – present). The current department was formed in 2019. Previously under the jurisdiction of the Department of Indian Affairs (1880 – 1936), the Department of Mines and Resources (1936 – 1950), the Department of Citizenshi and Immigration (1950 – 1966), the Department of Northern Affairs and National Resources (1966), the Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development (1966 – 2011), Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada (2011 – 2015), and Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada (2015 – 2019).
